This year, the ESPE science School will be held from the 4th to the 6th of june 2015 on the shores of the Lake d’Annecy (France). As you know, ESS is a biennial school aiming to bring together top scientists, senior ped endo, final year PhD students, post-doc fellows or research active young pediatric endocrine investigators who are within five years of their PhD or fellowship (http://www.eurospe.org/education/education_scienceschool.html).
The topic of ESS2015 is « Non-coding RNAs in Paediatric Endocrinology ». Non-coding RNAs are a very rapidly growing research field which has led to considerable improvement in the understanding of basic mechanisms controlling gene expression. It is now well demonstrated that ncRNAs are involved in many physiological pathways as wells pathological mechanisms. With Jean-Claude Carel and Claire Rougeulle who is an expert on ncRNA working in our institut, we are considered that it would be very interesting to have ESS on that topic to develop interactions with scientists and Ped Endo. We have thus prepared a program with both lectures on basic science and translational research (see the program attached).
ESS combines one day dedicated to young Ped Endo and young scientists to develop their research skills on core topics and 2.5 days dedicated for the scientific meeting. This year, ESS will take place at « Les Pensières » which is a very pleasant venue for such meeting (see attached). As you know, ESS is supported by a grant from Pfizer. This budget leads the ESS committee to select 24 fellows in addition to the
19 speakers and ESS committee members. Fellows must apply by the 31st of march. Successful applicants will be notified by mid april 2015.
The program of ESS2015 is very promising. As editors of the yearbook, you know the importance to develop interactions with basic scientists and the interest for young post-doc and MD to attend such interactive school. They should bring back interesting new ideas or new perspectives for the research projects of your team. Encourage your PhD students, research post-doc or clinical fellows to apply to ESS2015.
If they have any questions or need additional information, please ask them to send me an email.
